On the way in on the train I was thinking how Apple Mail lets you set up multiple email addresses for a single account by using a comma to separate the two. I mentioned how this was also recently on Daring Fireball. It got me thinking that what if the iPhone could do this too? Sure enough it can but with one caveat. The awesome software keyboard on the iPhone neglects to allow you to have a comma, the critical character needed for this solution. You'll have to literally find a comma or type one in a messaging app, safari, etc and copy and paste it into the Address field in Mail Preferences. I see that DF has updated their post to link to someone mentioning this same fact, always a day late. One thing they don't mention however is that unlike Apple Mail, this solution will not reply to an incoming email with an alias context. If I get sent mail to my gothamist.com address at gmail, when I reply to that my address will be gmail. You can manually change it on the reply just as you would do, but the lack of the automatic observation here is something to take notice of.
